"With God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
From The Principal
Thank you to all the parents who attended the Kindergarten Christmas Pageant and Presentation on Tuesday morning at St Mary's Anglican Church. It was a wonderfully fun and entertaining way to formally embrace the Christmas season. Congratulations to the Kindergarten students who have been rehearsing feverishly to prepare for the performances. Thanks also to Rev Sally, Ms Baker, Mrs Smith and their many helpers for all of the planning. It was a delightful celebration.
Students in the Primary participated in 'Step Up' day today and have spent the afternoon with their 2021 class group and teacher. There has been quite a buzz among Primary students as they have speculated about who might be their teacher, what room they will be in and who will be their classmates. Over the last few weeks, teachers have gathered data and provided input into the structure of classes for 2021. Teachers have used a range of information about friendship groups, learning styles, educational needs and group dynamics to help them formulate the class groups for 2021. It has been a very thorough and well considered process and I thank the teachers for the care they have taken in building class groups that will best support the social and educational needs of all students.
The teachers have been busily writing reports in recent weeks and Semester Two Reports for Kindergarten to Year 10 will be distributed on Tuesday 15 December, via the Parent Lounge. Academic and Special Award Presentations will take place in a number of smaller ceremonies over the next week. Parents of students receiving awards will be invited to attend the presentation events.

Off the Deputy's Desk
What a busy week it has been as we celebrate Kindergarten Graduation. Well done to our Kindy students and their teachers. Thanks to Rev Sal and all who were involved in the Kindy Christmas Pageant.
Our Year 10 students have been involved in their transition week. Transition week involves academic, spiritual, pastoral and fun activities designed to prepare Year 10 for their move to pre-HSC. At the time of writing, they are involved in 2 days of peer support training. This group of Year 10 students has the honour and the challenge of being peer support leaders for the 2021 Year 7 students. I believe that this is an outstanding opportunity to develop student character in both year levels. The leadership training program is designed to provide students with the skill development necessary to enable them to deliver peer support lessons to younger students in the Secondary. This program also builds the leadership competencies of the Year 10 students and will stand many of them in good stead should they wish to undertake the rigorous selection process for leaders in the future. I spent much of the middle session on Tuesday with the Year 10's and was amazed at the quality of their responses and the way that they were taking the learning opportunity so seriously. There was some great discussion and I would also like to thank the staff who were involved in the planning and the execution of the days.
The students of Year 6 undertake an important rite of passage on Thursday evening with their Year 6 Celebration and Awards evening. These students will no doubt be excited by the opportunity to socialise with one another and I hope that they have a wonderful evening. Thanks to Rev Sal, Mr Cross and Mrs Annetts and her Year 11 Hospitality students who will be catering for the event. I am looking forward to seeing these students make the most of this rite of passage between Primary and Secondary and hope that they have a wonderful evening.
As you can see, it is a very busy time as we wrap up the 2020 academic year and planning is already underway for the commencement of 2021.

Sports Update
Primary Touch Football Gala Day
Last Thursday we ran a Primary Touch Football Gala day at Saunders Oval. We had 18 teams come along to play from 6 different primary schools. EAC had 4 teams playing from Year 5 and Year 6. All our teams performed very well and were good sports all day. Thank you to Mr Evans, Miss Coghill and Mr Falvey for your help with coaching our teams. Thank you also to students Mikala Campbell, Taylah Ledingham and Lily Smith for refereeing.

Open Boys' Cricket
Last Friday the open cricketers played against Xavier at Saunders Oval. We restricted Xavier to 4/185 in their allotted 20 overs. Jack Whitaker took 1/26 off four overs and Sam Hanna and Miloš Safranek chipped in with 2/49 and 1/28. Toby Mumford took 2 good catches.
We started our run chase in a positive manner, but unfortunately fell short at 4/162. Aidan Rogers made 33 and Toby Mumford clubbed some enormous sixes on his way to 51. Sam Hanna also hit some giant sixes to finish on 51 not out. He was ably supported by Sam Harding who finished on 16 not out. This was our best batting display of the season and our chase had Xavier concerned and it took a couple of good catches to swing the match their way.
This match demonstrates improved fielding from the boys and they held their own against a very strong Xavier team. I look forward to seeing this team develop in the future.
