🏊‍♂️ Primary Swimming Carnival - starting the year with a splash!

Primary students were out in full House-coloured force today for our annual Swimming Carnival. It was a fantastic day marked by steady competition, new Personal Bests and strong support from the grandstands.

Massive congratulations to the students who placed in the top three of their events. These swimmers have now qualified to represent Emmanuel at the NCIS Primary Swimming Championships in a few weeks.

With Walker having claimed the shield last year, there is plenty of interest to see if they can hold onto the top spot or if a new champion will emerge. We look forward to announcing the Age Champions and the winning House at the next Primary Assembly.

Well done to everyone who participated and contributed to such a great day!

🎖️ Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Success!

Huge congratulations to Max R. for officially completing his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award! Max is the first Emmanuel student in over six years to reach this prestigious milestone - a massive undertaking that he began in Year 9.

Since this time, Max has completed all three levels of the Award: doing hundreds of hours of Voluntary Service and Physical Recreation, mastering a Skill, and completing multi-day Adventurous Journeys and a Gold Residential Project (a five-day stay away from home working with people he didn't previously know).

We are incredibly proud of you, Max. You’re a true inspiration to our future Duke of Edinburgh participants!

🌟 2026 Commencement Chapel

It was wonderful to gather as a College community this morning for our Commencement Chapel. Reverend Richard Browning led the Service which included references to 'Emmanuel and the Paperbark Tree'. This cherished story reminds us all of our connection to this land and the enduring presence of "God with us" - the very meaning of our name, Emmanuel.

Our Principal, Mr Robert Tobias, connected this ancient story with our future, asking students what they might do to bring the Emmanuel story to life in 2026.

- Will you be courageous and try something new?
- When will you be creative?
- How will you be compassionate?
- What will you do to be a good citizen in our community?

These are the types of everyday actions that help build the stories that define us. They are the most precious things that make our school what it is.

The Service concluded with the song, 'My Lighthouse' by Rend Collective - a favourite amongst staff and students, always guaranteed to get them dancing!

What a beautiful way to officially kick off the school year, centering ourselves in reflection and community.

What a way to kick off sport for 2026!

Our Year 7 and 8 students jumped straight into the action during their first sport lessons of the year, taking part in a Survivor Challenge run by our Sport staff. Students were split into tribes and competed in a series of challenges designed to build teamwork, communication and trust.

Challenges included the Blindfold Minefield, Island Hopping, Puzzle Relay and Sponge Race, with plenty of problem-solving, encouragement and laughs along the way. Each year group finished with a gruelling tie-breaker finale: The Idol Hold

An awesome start to weekly sport and a great way for students to connect, challenge themselves and set the tone for a big year ahead!
