"Happy are those who are merciful for they will be shown mercy."
Matthew 5:7
From The Principal
They say 'good things come to those that wait' and that was certainly the case for our community when last week we formally took possession of The Lindsay Walker Centre and students were able to use the incredible facility for the first time on Friday. It was wonderful to see Year 7 playing volleyball as part of the Friday afternoon sport program and putting the facility to good use. Year 7 were very excited about the opportunity and had a fantastic time. We will now work towards bringing the Centre fully online and making it a regular part of the daily life of the students.
The Centre contains two multi purpose courts, strength and conditioning centre, drama/dance room, large stage, foyer including servery and amenities. Also, with the construction of the Multi Purpose Centre, we have taken the opportunity to improve the drainage and surface of the oval and create some additional fields. All of these incredible facilities will enhance the already amazing programs and opportunities available to our students.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Friends of EAC for their amazing efforts raising funds to support the construction and fit out of The Lindsay Walker Centre. Last week, I was delighted to meet with Friends President, Mrs Jodie Manning-Hayter and Treasurer, Mrs Vanessa Hansen as they presented a cheque for $50,000 to help purchase sound and lighting equipment. Throughout the project, the efforts of Friends have raised over $125,000. In acknowledgement of their incredible efforts we have named the gathering and entrance areas of the Centre the Friends Forecourt and Foyer.
Over the final weeks of the term, we will give every student the opportunity to visit the Centre as it becomes fully operational. Unfortunately, current restrictions do not allow for parents and visitors to attend the site, however, we look forward to inviting all our community to visit the Centre when we officially bless and open the building on Wednesday 9 March 2022.

Off the Deputy's Desk
It is inevitable that all students will one day use some form of social media and have a profile on a social networking site. Many already visit these sites every day. There are plenty of good things about social media - but also many risks and things students should avoid. They don't always make good choices when they post something to a site, and this can lead to problems.
It's important to be aware of what your children do online. But snooping can alienate them and damage the trust you've built together. The key is to stay involved in a way that makes your children understand that you respect their privacy but want to make sure they're safe.
Tell your children that it's important to:
Be kind. Mean behaviour is not OK. Make it clear that you expect your children to treat others with respect, and to never post hurtful or embarrassing messages. And ask them to always tell you about any harassing or bullying messages that others post.
Follow the "WWGS?" (What Would my Grandparents Say?) rule. Teach children not to share anything on social media that they wouldn't want their teachers, future employer - and yes, grandparents - to see.
Use privacy settings. Privacy settings are important. Also, explain that passwords are there to protect them against things like identity theft.
Don't "friend" strangers. "If you don't know them, don't friend them." This is a plain, simple - and safe - rule of thumb.
Consider making a "social media agreement" with your kids - a real contract they can sign. In it they agree to protect their own privacy, consider their reputation, and not give out personal information. They also promise not to use technology to hurt anyone else through bullying or gossip.
Parents also can help keep children grounded in the real world by putting limits on media use. Keep computers in public areas in the house, avoid laptops and smartphones in bedrooms, and set some rules on the use of technology (such as no devices at the dinner table).
Regardless of how we feel about it, social media is here to stay, so it is important to be alert to the challenges it poses.

What masks do you wear?
We all wear masks, whether it be to fit in to different social situations or to hide the real you. We all wear them for different reasons and some of us wear multiple masks depending on the circumstance. Take a moment to reflect (and be honest with yourself), do you behave differently around your friends compared to your family? Sporting/out of school friends compared to your school friends? The perceived cool group of friends compared to the not as cool group?
Why do you think this is? How do you act differently? How do you feel about that?
For this task students in Year 10 designed a mask that represents them and how they may appear/come across to others. On the second design they will be designing the inside of the mask and this will represent "the real you".
Below are some images of student masks.
Primary Update
International Relations
On Thursday 11 November all Year 6 students participated in simultaneous online exchanges (via Zoom) with Year 6 students from St Margaret's Elementary School, Tokyo, Japan. Students enjoyed communicating and playing games during their Zoom meetings. It was highly engaging and students on both sides of the globe left the session with a buzz in the air and a spring in their step. Thank you to Mrs Buddee and the EAC IT Department who were instrumental in setting up this experience for the students. We look forward to conducting more 'virtual exchanges' in the future as a fun and interesting way to connect EAC students with our Sister Schools in Japan.

Canteen Stock - End of Year
With the college year coming to an end I will be cutting back on ordering from this week, so that excess stock is not being held over the Christmas break.
Check the newsletter each week for availability of items and what stock is running low. Items will be removed from the School Stream online ordering app as stock runs out.
I will always have available fresh items sandwiches, rolls etc but will also guarantee dino nuggets and mini pies.
Thank you for your continuing support of the canteen in 2021.
Canteen Menu 2021
The Canteen menu complies with the NSW Healthy School canteen strategy.
Please note that items change in price from time to time.
Online Canteen Ordering
We are excited to be able to offer online Canteen ordering via the 'School Stream' app. Please refer to the recent letter to all families with instructions on how to download the app to your phone, tablet or computer.
Once the app is installed you will be able to view and select from the canteen menu by clicking on Canteen. This will bring up the canteen order form where you will be able to enter the child's details and select desired items from the dropdown lists under the relevant headings and pay. You will be prompted to tick which break you require your selection for.
All online orders must be completed and submitted prior to 8.45am on the day they are required, to enable Canteen staff enough time to prepare and distribute orders.
Manual Canteen Ordering
If you are unable to use the 'School Stream' App please place the money in a paper bag of sufficient size to fit all of the items. If you are ordering a drink with your child’s lunch, please provide two (2) bags. Please write the information on the LOWER half of the bag. If money is short we will substitute items to the value received.
REMEMBER, if ordering at both breaks, you must have a separate bag for each break.
Any change required will be placed in the bag for return with the child’s order.
All orders must be received at the canteen before 9.15am.
Emergency Lunch
At times, for various reasons, students may require an emergency meal (basic sandwich), this will be provided with a canteen note sent home requesting payment, please send in the money to the Canteen ASAP.
