Term 2 | Week 2 | 03 May 2017
“But you, Jesus said, who do you say I am?"
Matthew 16:15
From The Principal
Thank you to large contingent of parents who attended the Cross Country Carnival last Thursday to cheer on the students. It was a case of third time lucky as we were blessed with perfect weather and Mr Graham Walker and his team did a great job with organising and facilitating the event. There were a number of excellent individual performances and we now look forward to forming our College team for the NCIS Cross Country later in the month. A reminder that the College has a training squad for Cross Country and that all students from 8 years old and up can take advantage of this squad to develop their fitness and technique. Please contact Mr Graham Walker if you would like to know more about the program.
On Tuesday of this week, we gathered at St Mary’s Church to celebrate the commencement of the second term and to pray for God’s blessing on our community. Rev Sally reminded us all of the wonderful Easter story that was celebrated by Christians across the world during the term break. She challenged us all to bring the joy, hope, peace and happiness of the Easter story alive for our families, friendship groups and community.
A remind once again that enrolment processes have begun for both Kindergarten and Year 7, 2018. In the coming weeks we will have a number of events to inform parents and to support students in the transition either from early learning to Kindergarten or Primary School to Secondary School. Some of the key dates include:
May 15 - Year 7 2018 Information Evening 6.00pm - 8.00pm
May 17 – Year 7 2018 Experience Day
May 23 – Kindergarten Open Afternoon 4.00pm - 5.00pm
May 26 – Kindergarten 2018 Experience Day
Notification about these events will be sent to all relevant students and families. If you would like any further information about the transition program or have an inquiry relating to enrolment, please contact Mrs Kate Jenkins via the College Office.
I am delighted to announce that the new ELC playground was opened this week and that students have been enjoying the wonderful new facilities that include a sandpit, covered deck, bike track, play equipment and sensory garden. As many of you may have noticed, the concrete has been poured for the new hardcourt area and within the next week a fence, goal posts and line marking will be added. This will provide our secondary students with two multi purpose basketball, netball and tennis courts. I am sure that both facilities will be greatly valued by our students and will provide many years of opportunity to play and have fun long into the future.

College Cross Country Championships
We were blessed with a beautiful North Coast day on Thursday last week to run the College Cross Country Championships. After all the rain at the end of last term it was wonderful to be able to complete this event in the sunshine.
There many outstanding performances on the day, congratulations to the following students who placed in the top three in their age groups. Students finishing in the top 5 have been selected in the College Representative team to compete at the NCIS Championships in Ballina on May 18.
Thank you to all the College staff who contributed to making the day a success. Thank you in particular to Mr Ottley's maintenance team for their help with the set up and pack down. Thank you to Mr Kelly, Mrs Buddee, Mrs Sculley, Mrs Raguse and Mrs Campbell for training the students in the lead up to the College Championships.
