The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son and they will call him Emmanuel, a name which means ‘God with us’.
Matthew 1:23-24
From The Principal
Thank you also to many hundreds of parents who attended Presentation Day celebration. It was wonderful to have so many parents their to share in the success and achievement of the students. Congratulations to all those students that received Academic, Application and Special Awards on the day. A full overview of all Academic and Special Award winners adjoins this newsletter.
The Year 6, 2017 Celebration Evening was held at the College on Thursday 30 November and was a great success. It was an absolutely delightful evening with students, parents and staff coming together to reflect on students journey from Kindergarten to Year 6 and celebrate the wonderful experiences they have had and tremendous friendships they have developed throughout this time. The very skilled Mr Christensen was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening which began with speeches and a vote of thanks from the Year 6 teachers, Mr McCotter and Mrs Cahill. This was followed by a funny and warm hearted reply by the Primary Captains Lola Saul and Christian Weingarth. We then moved to the Ezzy Centre for a stand up dinner and to view a visual presentation that captured the journey of the students through their primary years. The parents then enjoyed some relaxing time together while the students hit the dance floor at a disco held in the Joan Pickup Library.
A huge thank you to all parents and staff involved in the organisation of the evening. Congratulations to Year 6 on the way they presented themselves on the evening and the way they immersed themselves in College life through 2017. They have been such a positive, engaged and generous group and have really made their mark on the year.
It was particularly delightful to see the anticipation and excitement of the Primary students as they prepared for, and then participated in, Step Up Day on December 1. A number of parents have spoken to me about how positive an experience it was and the excitement shown by the students when telling their parents which teacher they had next year, who was in their class and where their room would be. Thanks to all the teaching staff for time taken to place students in class groups and for the preparation of fun and exciting activities to engage the students and help make the transition from one year to the next a very positive one.
Students reports for Kindergarten to Year 10 will be distributed this week. They will also be available online via the parent portal. The College office will remain open until 20 December and will reopen on 8 January, 2018.
On behalf of all the staff, I pray God’s blessing on you and your family this Christmas season. As we celebrate the birth of the one who came to save, may you know much peace, joy and love. I trust the holiday time will be both relaxing and renewing and we very much look forward to all that 2018 has to offer.
Merry Christmas
Mr Robert Tobias

Cakes for Cambodia Report
Something special happened at Emmanuel College at lunchtime on Tuesday. It was like some type of planetary alignment had taken place where goodwill had overtaken the nature of the soul. Whatever the energy sauce, its results will have reverberations across the planet when the proceeds of the ‘Cakes for Cambodia’ reach the little settlements in those small settlements in western Cambodia. The money raised by both the primary and secondary school will push upwards to around $800 and will go a long way in purchasing much needed teacher resources for these very humble rural communities. Last year money raised paid for the construction of a classroom complete with desks and chairs. In addition, Emmanuel donate five laptops and countless old stock sports uniforms.
None of this would have been made possible this year without the energy and motivation of Libby Stock and Amber Bancks, and their team or Year 6 cake stall warriors.
Thankyou all for an amazing outcome.
