CURRICULUM
PRIMARY
The Primary School, comprising Pre-Kindy to Year 6, is managed by the Deputy Principal (Primary), who is assisted by a committed team of experienced and enthusiastic teachers and support staff. An Assistant to the Deputy assists in the day to day running of the Primary School and deputises in her absence. A Coordinator of Pastoral Care and a Sports Coordinator also assist in Primary School management. Emphasis is placed on developing the basic skills within a secure and happy learning environment, which also promotes social skills development. Scope and sequence mapping ensures a natural progression through the curriculum and the progress of students is carefully monitored, remedial and extension intervention being provided where appropriate.
Specialist tuition is provided in Music and PDHPE. Students are introduced to a second language (Japanese )from Year 3. The Primary Pastoral Care unit is the Home class with the class teacher acting as the main conduit for communication.
SECONDARY
The Secondary School is managed by the Deputy Principal (Secondary). He is assisted by Faculty Coordinators, Stage Coordinators and a Sports Coordinator.
JUNIOR SECONDARY
Stage 4 (Years 7 and 8) introduces students to Secondary Schooling. The change from a predominantly single teacher environment in Primary is replaced with specialist subject teachers and associated facilities. Stage 4 allows students to move into this new learning environment in a non-threatening way and prepares them for Stage 5 and elective subject selection.
In Stage 4, the curriculum is dominated by mandatory subjects, prescribed by the Board of Studies. These include English, Mathematics, Science, PDHPE, HSIE (History and Geography), Technology and Applied Studies, Music, Visual Arts and LOTE.
Students are allocated to a Pastoral Care group that is the responsibility of a Pastoral Care Tutor. The Stage Coordinators meet with these tutors on a regular basis to monitor student well-being.

EXTENSION AND ENRICHMENT
Children vary greatly in their aptitudes and interests. Within any class group, there will be those who have particular interests and enthusiasms and others who learn quickly in some domains. A degree of autonomy will be fostered through activities that are appropriate to the student's age, and which are stimulating, interesting and appealing.
LEARNING SUPPORT
The College offers support for students who have special needs, particularly in literacy and numeracy. Students who are likely to benefit from small group work may be offered partial withdrawal from regular classes, during which they will work with Learning Support Staff.
EXTRA CURRICULAR
The College believes that each student has special gifts and talents. We aim to provide a programme that is broad enough for each student to share those gifts.
MUSIC
The emphasis of the Music programme is on performance. The strong classroom music programme is supported by private tutors offering teaching across a wide range of instruments. Currently tuition is available in Brass, Voice, Percussion, Strings, Woodwind and Keyboard.
There are many ensembles across a number of areas, from Strings Groups to Rock Bands to
Concert Bands. Numerous choirs allow our vocalists to share their talents.
DRAMA
Alongside Music, Drama has developed a very strong performance focus.
Primary and Secondary Schools alternate years for performances. The Primary School has performed productions of Alice and Cindy-Ella meets her fellah. The Secondary School performed Grease,
Godspell and Cosi.

SPORT
Please see the Sports
page.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION
The outdoor education offerings at Emmanuel Anglican College are designed to challenge students in a non-classroom environment. There is a general progression from an overnight stay in Stage 1 to "Challenge by Choice" at a number of adventure training venues, followed by Teamwork development and finally Leadership training.

The Year 7 camp departs from this continuum and is designed as a 'familiarisation' camp. There are a number of new students and the first year of secondary schooling offers new challenges.
